Puerto España – Trinidad y Tobago, el 5 de marzo de 2026. El Embajador de la República de Colombia en Trinidad y Tobago, William Bush, asistió a una reunión con el Ministro de Planificación, Asuntos Económicos y Desarrollo de la República de Trinidad y Tobago, Dr. Kennedy Swaratsingh, en la sede del Ministerio, para discutir oportunidades para fortalecer la cooperación económica y ampliar el compromiso bilateral entre los dos países.
Durante la reunión, el Ministro Swaratsingh expresó su interés en explorar oportunidades para expandir la industria minorista en Trinidad y Tobago a través de la colaboración con socios colombianos. La discusión destacó el dinámico sector minorista de Colombia y el potencial para el intercambio de conocimientos y la inversión que podría apoyar el desarrollo continuo del mercado local.
El Ministro también hizo hincapié en la importancia de vincular las iniciativas de intercambio cultural con el desarrollo económico. Ambas partes reconocieron que el fortalecimiento de los lazos culturales puede desempeñar un papel significativo en el fomento de una colaboración económica más profunda, las oportunidades turísticas y las conexiones entre los pueblos de Trinidad y Tobago y Colombia.
Además, el Ministro Swaratsingh manifestó su interés en recibir una misión comercial colombiana para visitar Trinidad y Tobago. Dicha visita permitiría a los representantes recorrer ciudades e industrias importantes de Trinidad y Tobago, lo que les proporcionaría una mejor comprensión del panorama económico del país e identificaría áreas potenciales para el desarrollo y la asociación en el futuro.
La reunión reafirmó el compromiso compartido de Trinidad y Tobago y Colombia de profundizar las relaciones bilaterales y explorar nuevas vías de cooperación que apoyen el crecimiento económico y la prosperidad mutua.

His Excellency William Bush, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Trinidad and Tobago attended a meeting with the Honourable Dr. Kennedy Swaratsingh, Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, at the Ministry’s headquarters on the 05th of March 2026, to discuss opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation and expanding bilateral engagement between the two countries.
During the meeting, Minister Swaratsingh expressed interest in exploring opportunities to expand the retail industry in Trinidad and Tobago through collaboration with Colombian partners. The discussion highlighted Colombia’s dynamic retail sector and the potential for knowledge exchange and investment that could support the continued development of the local market.
The Minister also emphasized the importance of linking cultural exchange initiatives with economic development. Both parties acknowledged that strengthening cultural ties can play a meaningful role in fostering deeper economic collaboration, tourism opportunities, and people-to-people connections between Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia.
In addition, Minister Swaratsingh expressed interest in hosting a Colombian trade mission to visit Trinidad and Tobago. Such a visit would allow representatives to tour key cities and industries in Trinidad and Tobago, providing them with a better understanding of the country's economic landscape and identifying potential areas for future development and partnership.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of Trinidad and Tobago and Colombia to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation that support economic growth and mutual prosperity.
