Puerto España – Trinidad y Tobago, el 11 de marzo de 2026. El Embajador Colombia, William Bush, asistió a la Catalyst SME Conference 2026, organizada por la Cámara de Industria y Comercio de Trinidad y Tobago, que se centró en el fortalecimiento de las pequeñas y medianas empresas (pymes), la promoción de la innovación, el apoyo a la expansión del mercado y la mejora de la competitividad empresarial en Trinidad y Tobago.
El evento reunió a miembros de la comunidad empresarial, funcionarios gubernamentales y partes interesadas de las pymes para debatir las oportunidades de crecimiento y colaboración dentro del sector.
La ceremonia inaugural contó con la intervención de la Sra. Sonji Pierre-Chase, Presidenta de la Cámara de Industria y Comercio de Trinidad y Tobago, quien destacó el importante papel de las pymes en el impulso del desarrollo económico y el fomento de la innovación.
Senador el Honorable Satyakama Maharaj, Ministro de Comercio, Inversión y Turismo, pronunció un discurso titulado «Impulsar la competitividad y el rendimiento de las pymes», en el que subrayó la necesidad de reforzar el entorno propicio para las pymes y apoyar su expansión en los mercados regionales e internacionales.
Además, el Honorable Dr. Kennedy Swaratsingh, Ministro de Planificación, Asuntos Económicos y Desarrollo, pronunció un discurso titulado «La agenda de desarrollo: situar a las pymes en el centro de la planificación económica», en el que destacó la importancia de integrar a las pymes en las estrategias nacionales de desarrollo y los marcos de planificación económica.
La conferencia también incluyó sesiones de networking y debates centrados en mejorar el acceso a la financiación para las pymes, ampliar las oportunidades de mercado y fomentar la innovación dentro del sector.
La Embajada de la República de Colombia acogió con satisfacción la oportunidad de participar en este importante foro y reafirmó su interés en fortalecer la cooperación económica y los vínculos comerciales entre Colombia y Trinidad y Tobago, en particular en apoyo del desarrollo y la internacionalización de las pymes.

His Excellency William Bush, Ambassador of the Republic of Colombia to Trinidad and Tobago, attended the Catalyst SME Conference 2026, hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce on Wednesday 11th March, 2026.
The conference focused on strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting innovation, supporting market expansion, and enhancing business competitiveness in Trinidad and Tobago. The event brought together members of the business community, government officials, and SME stakeholders to discuss opportunities for growth and collaboration within the sector.
The opening ceremony featured remarks by Ms. Sonji Pierre-Chase, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, who highlighted the important role of SMEs in driving economic development and fostering innovation.
Senator the Honourable Satyakama Maharaj, Minister of Trade, Investment and Tourism delivered an address entitled “Boosting SME Competitiveness and Performance,” in which he underscored the need to strengthen the enabling environment for SMEs and support their expansion into regional and international markets.
Additionally, the Honourable Dr. Kennedy Swaratsingh, Minister of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development, delivered an address titled “The Development Agenda: Positioning SMEs at the Heart of Economic Planning,” emphasizing the importance of integrating SMEs into national development strategies and economic planning frameworks.
The conference also included networking sessions and discussions focused on improving access to financing for SMEs, expanding market opportunities, and fostering innovation within the sector.
